The Story Behind Bungalow360

Bungalow360 began in 1998 in Southern California as a handcrafted bag business sold on local college campuses. The quirky prints caught on quickly with students, and word of mouth turned a small handmade line into a wholesale label stocked by independent shops.

Artwork remains the heart of the house. Founder Susie Pusch, working alongside her husband Franz, still draws the patterns that appear on totes, satchels, wristlets, belts, scarves and sun hats, keeping the aesthetic playful rather than trend-driven.

An early rainbow peace print went viral in the 2000s and was later picked up by the Smithsonian for its catalog marking the peace sign anniversary. Through the Powered by Love program, the company channels solar energy to nonprofits and directs part of each sale to animal welfare groups.

Questions About the Bags

Care instructions, materials, sizing and shipping details gathered in one place for quick reference.

What are Bungalow360 handbags made from?

Most styles use natural, unbleached 100% cotton canvas that is lead-free and printed with water-based inks. Linings are cotton, usually in a contrasting polka-dot pattern.

Are the bags and wallets vegan?

Yes. The full range is vegan, with no leather, suede or animal-derived trims used on any purse, backpack, wallet or accessory.

How should a canvas bag be washed?

A cold wash followed by air drying works best. Natural canvas behaves much like denim, so expect slight wrinkling and gentle fading with time and use.

Which style suits daily commuting?

Small messengers and pocket bags are the usual picks for hands-free carry, since both include exterior pockets, a zippered main compartment and an adjustable shoulder strap.

Will a canvas purse hold a phone and keys?

Wristlets fit a phone, cards, cash and a key ring, while larger crossbody and tote styles leave room for a notebook, water bottle or beach towel.

Does buying a bag support animal causes?

A portion of each sale goes to animal welfare organizations, and the Powered by Love initiative donates solar power to nonprofit partners.

What Customers Are Saying

Feedback from shoppers who carry these canvas bags to work, on vacation and to the beach.

Smiling curly haired woman

Bought the wallet first, loved the quality, then went back for the duffle. Roomy, light, great pockets, and the polka-dot lining is a nice touch.

Marissa T.

Young man looking up portrait

The sea creature and woodland prints caught the eye at a shop by the shore. Sturdy fabric, holds a phone and keys easily, and three more went out as gifts.

Denise K.

Curly haired woman touching hair

Third wristlet from this brand and they hold up to rough daily use. Plenty of pockets, well stitched, and people always ask where the print came from.
